BaseLock or antivirus: what each one does for you.

BaseLock is a cybersecurity service for your personal computers, not another antivirus app. Antivirus is an app you buy and then look after yourself. Identity protection watches your credit and your personal details, not your computers. Here is what each one covers, and who each one is for.Antivirus is an app you look after yourself. Antivirus and identity protection products differ from one vendor to the next. This is what each kind of product usually does, not a description of any one of them.

Who each one is for

An antivirus app

If you are comfortable installing security software, keeping it updated, reading its warnings and deciding what to do about each one yourself.

Identity protection

If your main worry is someone opening accounts in your name. It watches your credit and personal details. It does not look after your computers, and BaseLock does not replace it.

BaseLock

If you want the protection a company security team runs, without running it yourself. It replaces your antivirus, so you do not need both, and it costs $90 a month billed annually, or $100 month to month, for up to two computers.

BaseLock is not for you if your main worry is credit or identity theft: it looks after your computers, not your credit file.
