BaseLock is live
Large companies pay a security team to watch their computers around the clock. That team stops known threats before anyone notices, asks careful questions about anything new, and keeps every machine's settings where they should be. Most households and small businesses have never had anything like it. They have an antivirus app, a few habits, and hope.
BaseLock exists to close that gap. Today we are launching BaseLock publicly, and this post explains what BaseLock is, what it does on your computers, what it will never do, and how to get started.
Why we built BaseLock
BaseLock was founded in 2026 by people who had spent years protecting big companies from cyberattacks. Between us we bring decades of experience from security companies and government agencies, and BaseLock is veteran owned.
Over those years we watched the same kinds of threats that used to target only the largest companies start showing up on ordinary laptops and small business networks. The tools that stop them stayed locked behind enterprise contracts and complicated dashboards. Everyone else was left with off-the-shelf antivirus that mostly slowed their computer down.
One of our founders spent twenty years attacking and defending networks for large organizations. Then he looked at his own family's laptops and realized none of that protection reached them. BaseLock is what closed that gap.
We set out to make the protection big companies use available to people and small businesses, without the cost or the complexity. That means it has to run quietly, stop known threats on its own, and only ask you something when the decision is genuinely yours.
What it does
BaseLock is a cybersecurity service, not another antivirus app. Antivirus is something you buy and then look after yourself. BaseLock installs the security platform large companies run, keeps it up to date for you, and brings you in only when it needs an answer. It works on macOS, Windows and Linux computers.
Here is what that looks like day to day.
It stops threats on the device. BaseLock recognizes known viruses and ransomware and blocks them on the spot, with no email and no text to you. It also catches brand-new attacks by how they behave, not only by matching a list of known ones.
It asks you one plain question. When something new tries to run and we are not sure about it, you get a message by email, or by text if you prefer. It says which device, what tried to run and what it tried to do. One tap allows it or blocks it, and your answer applies to every device on your account, including ones you add later.
It is safe by default. If you are busy and do not answer, BaseLock blocks the program and tells you why. Nothing risky runs just because you were away from your desk.
It keeps your settings on. BaseLock keeps security settings like disk encryption and screen lock switched on across your computers, and shows you which ones are behind on system updates. A lost laptop or a skipped update should not be an open door.
It blocks dangerous websites before they load. Known scam, phishing and malware sites are refused before your browser can open them. You can add your own always-allow and always-block rules. This is on Individual accounts today and coming to business accounts.
It gives you an advisor you can text. Security Advisor is included with every plan. Send it a suspicious text, email or file and it tells you what it thinks and why. It can watch a connected inbox for scams and tell you when your details show up in a published data breach.
Behind all of this, support questions go to a real person, who replies within 24 hours at the latest.
Your privacy
Security software sits close to everything you do, so we want to be plain about what BaseLock sees.
Nobody at BaseLock reads your files. Your photos, emails, documents and messages are yours. The protection software checks files on the device itself, because that is the only way to spot a malicious one, and what reaches us is the verdict, not the contents.
We do not watch what you do. We do not record your screen, log your keystrokes, or use your microphone or camera. The software is not built to.
We never sell your data. Your account details, device list and security events are never sold or shared with advertisers. You pay us; your data is not the product.
If there is an attack, we collect what we need to stop it. That means technical detail about what the attacking program did, never copies of your files or your conversations.
You are told every time. If we ever need to connect to one of your devices, we tell you first. For routine help we wait for your OK. If we are responding to an active threat we start straight away, and every session is time limited and logged.
Website blocking is the one part worth spelling out. To stop dangerous sites, it checks the name of each site a filtered device looks up, and we record the ones it blocks. It does not see the pages you read, what you type, or anything inside an encrypted connection. Our privacy policy has the full detail, including what Security Advisor keeps and for how long.
How to start
Setting up BaseLock takes a few minutes and three steps, once you have an account.
- Create your account. When you create your account, you enter your name, email and mobile number, and we text you a code to confirm the number. There is no password to choose, because your phone is how you sign in.
- Download the installer. From your dashboard, pick the computer you are sitting at. The installer is prepared for that platform and already tied to your account, so there is no license key to copy.
- Run it. Follow the prompts. The install itself takes about two minutes. Your computer will ask for its own administrator password, which is the operating system checking with you before allowing security software. On a Mac there is one extra step, approving a management profile in System Settings.
After that, BaseLock runs on its own. You will hear from us when something needs you, and otherwise you will not.
If you already pay for antivirus, BaseLock replaces it. Two security programs on one computer get in each other's way, and our setup guide shows you how to remove the old one first.
The pricing page shows the plans and whether new accounts are open right now. If you want to understand the product before you decide, these are the best two places to begin:
- See how it works, with a worked example of each step.
- Ask us a question, and a real person will answer.
Thank you for reading. We built BaseLock so that the people we care about could have the protection we spent our careers providing to others. We hope it does the same for the people you care about.
